Elevated and Personalized Therapy to Restore Movement.

Physiotherapy Treatments

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy involves assessment and treatment to address joint mobility, myofascial tension, muscle dysfunction, and movement impairments in order to resolve pain, optimize mobility, and restore function. Assessment and treatments can include manual therapy, joint mobilization, soft tissue manipulation, myofascial release and stretching, motor retraining, and exercise prescription.

Feel free to contact us for more information about how physiotherapy can help to transform your health!

Neurokinetic Therapy®

Neurokinetic Therapy® (NKT) is an assessment and treatment technique that utilizes selective muscle testing and motor control theory to identify and correct muscular imbalances and dysfunctional movement patterns. NKT aims to address the root cause of pain and dysfunction, rather than just treating the symptoms. By restoring proper muscle function and retraining the brain to send correct messages to the muscles, NKT can help alleviate pain, improve movement patterns, and prevent future injuries.

Lokman is level 3 certified in NKT. Contact us to find out how NKT can take your physiotherapy treatments to the next level!

CranioSacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on healing approach that focuses on the craniosacral system, which includes the bones, tissues, and fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. The therapist uses a light touch to assess and balance the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, which can become restricted or imbalanced due to physical or emotional trauma, illness, or stress. By releasing tension and restrictions in the craniosacral system, Craniosacral Therapy aims to support the body's natural ability to heal and function optimally.

Lokman has completed CranioSacral Therapy I: Assessment of Central Nervous System and Fascia for Full Body Treatment Protocol. He looks forward to completing the rest of his training in the near future.

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive medical treatment that uses high-energy acoustic waves to stimulate the body's natural healing process. It has been found to be effective in treating conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, tennis elbow, and shoulder tendinitis. Shockwave therapy is generally well-tolerated and has few side effects. It is a safe and effective treatment option for those seeking non-surgical pain relief and accelerated healing.

Shockwave therapy can be part of your treatments with Lokman at his clinic locations, as well in the home.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is based on traditional Chinese medicine that involves inserting sterile, single-use needles into specific points on the body in order to influence the nervous and circulatory systems, with the goals of relieving pain, reducing inflammation, and improving circulation. The needles are left in place for 10-30 minutes and may cause mild sensations. Acupuncture is considered safe and can be helpful for patients dealing with pain and muscle tension. Acupuncture can be coupled with Neuro-electrical stimulation to augment neural stimulation, retrain muscle activation, and relieve pain.

Acupuncture is included as part of the modalities provided in treatments with Lokman at his clinic and in-home sessions.

Vestibular and Post-Concussion Rehabilitation

The vestibular system includes structures in the inner ear that detect changes in head position and movement, and send signals to the brain to help maintain balance and spatial orientation. When the vestibular system is damaged or disrupted, people may experience symptoms such as dizziness, vertigo, imbalance, nausea, and difficulty with concentration and vision. Vestibular treatments include a combination of exercises and techniques aimed at promoting central nervous system compensation for vestibular dysfunction. Effective treatment of dizziness involve accurate assessment of the underlying cause of dizziness symptoms and prescription of the correct maneuvers and exercises.

Post-concussion rehabilitation focuses on helping individuals recover from the effects of a concussion, which is considered a mild traumatic brain injury that can occur from a fall, sports-related injury, and motor vehicle accidents. The goal of post-concussion rehabilitation is to reduce symptoms, improve function, and help individuals return to their normal activities as quickly and safely as possible. It involves a comprehensive approach to help individuals recover from the effects of a concussion. Treatment is tailored to the individual's specific symptoms and needs, and may be adjusted over time as symptoms improve.

Temporo-Mandibular Joint (TMJ) Treatments

Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction affects the joint connecting the jawbone to the skull and can result in pain and tension in the jaw and face, headaches, and impaired in biting and chewing. Physiotherapy can be an effective treatment option for TMJ dysfunction, as it aims to improve the range of motion of the jaw and reduce pain and discomfort associated with the condition. Treatments can include manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, exercises, and motor pattern retraining.

Lokman has extensive experience with treatment jaw pain and TMJ-related conditions. Contact us to find out if a TMJ assessment and treatment will be beneficial for you.

Exercise Prescription

Exercise prescription is a core component of physiotherapy treatment. It involves the development and implementation of specific exercise programs designed to improve a patient's strength, flexibility, and overall physical function. The aim of exercise prescription is to help patients recover from injuries, manage chronic conditions, and prevent future injuries.

A physiotherapy assessment can help to identify areas of weakness and create a targeted exercise program to help improve functional strength and mobility. Contact us to find out how a personalized exercise program can make all the difference!
